Facts About Crocus

There are 90 species of crocus.  Plural for the word crocus is croci.  The early spring crocus is a bulb or corm that is planted in the fall., at the same time as daffodils and iris.

The crocus is in the same family as iris; and it is one of the first flowers to bloom in very early spring.  The crocus has been known to push its way through layers of snow and begin to bloom.

Croci are perennials.  They bloom year after year.
